8th-9th Grade Philanthropy Programs

  • Teens work in groups of 25, contributing $500 each and managing a philanthropic fund of approximately $25,000. JYPI provides a dollar-for-dollar match of teen contributions.
  • Teens use site visits and interviews with program staff and service recipients to help evaluate grant proposals from local, national and international nonprofits.  The teens then decide as a group how to distribute their funds.
  • Groups are available in Maryland and (New!) Northern Virginia.
  • The 8th-9th grade program is a great post Bar/Bat Mitzvah tzedakah project!
  • There are seven meetings throughout the year, including orientation, site visits and the funding session.

10th – 12th Grade Philanthropy Programs

  • Teens work in groups of 25, contributing $250 each and managing a philanthropic fund of approximately $10,000. JYPI provides a dollar-for-dollar match of teen contributions.
