Serving Together is a unique volunteer
experience that pairs typical teens with teens and/or adults who have developmental delays to perform
meaningful service side-by-side.
Who is eligible to participate?
All 8th-12th graders who enjoy volunteering
and sharing the experience with others. No previous experience
necessary. Students of all religious backgrounds are welcome. A short
orientation will be held before each session.What are the programs like?
You will volunteer along-side your
Serving Together partner with
disabilities in activities such as taking care of
animals at an animal sanctuary, organizing clothing at a Goodwill store
and sorting donations at a food bank.
What is a developmental disability?
A developmental disability is a physical
and/or cognitive disability that affected someone before age 18.
Examples of developmental disabilities are: down syndrome, cerebral
palsy and autism.
What is the
time commitment?
Programs are held six times during the
school year on Sunday afternoons. Each session will last 2-3 hours.
Participants are to attend each program.
Will my
school accept this program for Service Learning Credit?
Yes, but it is always a good idea to
check with your school first.
